Essential Function

• Prepares statements of claim and defense, declaration for affidavit and memorandum of appeal and reports the court proceeding in the form prepared for that purpose;
• Attends court cases of the bank and ensures that summons are served to defendants;
• Initiates process of execution of judgments and follows up cases decided in favor of the bank;
• Examining defaulting borrowers files referred, request and obtains updates statement of account and documents;
• Prepare legal notice to borrowers/mortgagers/pledgers and follow up whether it is served or not;
• Prepares memo for the estimation of collateral by the banks engineer;
• Prepares letters to the property registration organ/kebele representative to attend on the estimation of property and auction;
• Lodges appeals and defends when appeals are made by other party on the bank;
• Conducts sales of mortgage/pledge properties by public auction and ensures that all the mandatory requirements stipulated under the applicable laws are observed;
• Ensure that the interest of the bank is protected at the time of sale of mortgaged/pledged properties;
• Prepares Legal briefs and renders legal advice and/or opinion on matters referred to the department for legal advice from branches and other organs of the bank;
• Perform legal research assigned by his/her supervisor;
• Keep in good condition and operates properly equipment received for performing the activities assigned by the Bank;
• Performs other related duties as required.

• Law, Any other related fields with 5.5 years of experience in legal functions, preferably in banking industry
