The Research Assistant will report to the BIRD lab Manager and will play a critical role in data collection, analysis, and documentation, contributing to high-quality research outputs that inform public health interventions and also provide insights from data analysis that inform the design of behavior change interventions and public health strategies. The Research Assistant will be responsible for the following:
1. Research Support:
Assist in designing and conducting research studies.
Support the development of research protocols, questionnaires, and survey instruments.
Collect, manage, and analyze qualitative and quantitative data.
Conduct literature reviews and synthesize findings.
2. Data Collection and Management:
Assist in field data collection, including surveys, interviews, and focus groups.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of collected data.
Manage and maintain research databases.
Ensure compliance with ethical and data protection guidelines.
3. Data Analysis and Reporting:
Support data cleaning, coding, and statistical analysis.
Assist in the preparation of research reports, presentations, and publications.
Develop data visualization materials, including charts and graphs.
4. Coordination and Collaboration:
Support research team members in various project activities.
Facilitate communication with stakeholders, including community partners and institutions.
Assist in organizing and coordinating research-related meetings and events.
Deliverables:
Clean and well-organized research datasets.
Literature review summaries.
Research reports and presentations.
Data visualization materials.f to ensure smooth operations.
About You
Master’s degree in Public Health.
Minimum of 5 years relevant experience
Previous research experience in public health or social sciences.
Proficiency in statistical software such as SPSS, R, STATA and qualitative data analysis software like NVivo
Strong organizational and time management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Work Environment:
Duty Station: Addis Ababa, School of Public Health, Seferselam Campus.
Employment Type: Full-time, contractual (6 months with possible extension).
Field travel may be required.
